سلما Plateau

Adventure above the clouds, wonder beneath the earth

Rising above Oman’s eastern Hajar Mountains, the Selmah Plateau is a vast, rugged wilderness defined by dramatic cliffs, sweeping valleys, and endless horizons. Far from the bustle of the cities, this highland is a land of raw beauty and untamed adventure, where star-filled skies illuminate the quiet solitude of campfires and rocky trails lead to hidden wonders.

Selmah Plateau, located in the Eastern Hajar is not only a destination for explorers and nature lovers, but also the gateway to one of Oman’s greatest treasures — Majlis al Jinn. Carved deep into the earth beneath Selmah’s limestone surface, this colossal underground chamber is among the largest caves in the world, drawing adventurers from across the globe. To stand on the edge of Selmah Plateau is to stand at the threshold of legend, where thrilling challenges and awe-inspiring natural beauty merge into one unforgettable experience.

Made of cretaceous, limestones, and Ophiolites, as a result of a collision between the Arabian and the Persian plates, the Hajar mountain range (Eastern and Western) sits between 50 to 100 km off the Gulf of Oman. It extends more than 650 km from the Mussandam Peninsula across UAE all the way to Sur and ends right around the bend where the Gulf of Oman meets the Indian Ocean.

The weather in the Hajar mountains can be unforgiving if you are not properly prepared, summer or winter. We at Husaak Adventures have been operating in these mountain ranges for the past 12 years. The mountains are the team’s back yard where we share the hidden jewels of Arabia with our adventurers. Whether it’s short few hours experience, an easy 2-day trip or a 2-week full-fledged expedition, we’ve managed to introduce over quarter of a million people to adventures in Arabia in the last 12 years.

The Eastern Hajar range offer a variety of activities from hiking, caving, climbing, canyoning, kayaking and mountain biking on the physically active side.

They also offer a rich cultural, geological and archeological experiences for the visitors.
